Felpham Community Hall, managed by Felpham Parish Council in Felpham, Bognor Regis, has started 2026 on a high note after being awarded a £2,000 grant that will allow us to continue supporting our local community through essential services and activities.
Southern Water’s Community Centre Grants help keep hubs like ours warm and welcoming during the winter months, directly supporting the cost of energy bills and essential operational costs.
The company has given a total of £30,000 to community centres across Chatham, Folkestone, Eastbourne, Bognor Regis and Southampton. We have been given £2,000 towards our costs, which will enable us to carry on hosting a wide range of family-friendly and health-focused activities—including toddler groups like Dizzy Ducklings and Baby Ballet, fitness classes for all ages, martial arts and sports sessions for children and adults, and community social events—ensuring residents of all ages have access to affordable, inclusive spaces to stay active, connected, and supported during the colder months. It has enabled free taster sessions for Jiggy Wrigglers, supported our Crafternooners and will allow a re introduction of the Warm Space facility to run Thursday and Friday mornings during colder weather.
Doug Millen, Community Hall Manager at Felpham Parish Council, said: “This timely grant from Southern Water is a real boost as we head deeper into winter. It helps us keep the lights on and the heating running for our regular toddler sessions, fitness classes, karate groups, and community gatherings, so no one in Felpham feels isolated or left out. We’re truly grateful and look forward to making an even bigger difference in 2026.”
Southern Water’s Community Partnerships & Programmes Manager Alex Willumsen said:
“Community centres play a vital role in local life, offering both practical and emotional support to people. We’re really pleased we can lessen the financial pressures they face through our grants programme, now in its fourth year. This year we’ve specifically targeted five locations where we feel our support can make the biggest difference, and are helping 14 hubs to keep their buildings warm and welcoming for local people.”
