NOTICE OF DRAFT RECOMMENDATIONS ON THE COMMUNITY GOVERNANCE REVIEW
OF THE PARISH ARRANGEMENTS FOR
FELPHAM PARISH COUNCIL AND YAPTON PARISH COUNCIL

Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007
Local Government (Parish and Parish Councils) (England) Regulations 2008

Arun District Council is undertaking a Community Governance Review of the parish arrangements for Felpham Parish Council and Yapton Parish Council. This is in response to a request to make a slight change to their shared boundary in order to move the land identified as a possible school site to serve the new Blake’s Mead Development, from Yapton Parish Council to Felpham Parish Council. This review has considered the reason for this request, which is that approximately 97% of the Blake’s Mead Development falls within Felpham Parish. The areas of the development that include the proposed school site and senior football pitch and pavilion currently lie within Yapton Parish. The move of the land would facilitate the planning process

At the meeting of the Electoral Review Sub Committee on 3 May 2018, the Council considered the comments and representations received from the first phase of consultation. As there are no properties or local residents immediately affected by the proposals and the future use of the land is as yet uncertain, the consultation was limited to Arun District Councillors and WSCC Councillors, all of whom supported the proposal. On the basis of these representations, the Electoral Review Sub-Committee agreed draft recommendations for change, as follows:

“The Electoral Review Sub Committee, RECOMMEND TO FULL COUNCIL

that subject to the results of the final consultation stage of this review, that the shared boundary between Felpham Parish Council and Yapton Parish Council, as set out in the map shown at Appendix 1 of the report, is changed as proposed from 1 December 2018.”

The Council is now undertaking the next stage of the review process and residents and interested organisations are asked to give their views on whether they support or disagree with the draft recommendations. Your representations and comments should be sent to:
